Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. Laura Arington is originally from southern Illinois. She attended Murray State University in Murray, KY for her undergraduate studies where she received her B.S. in Agriculture, then attended University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine for her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Her interest in animals began as a child being raised on a small family farm. Throughout the years she has owned a variety of pets ranging from dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, birds, snakes, frogs, and lizards as well as chickens and cows on the farm. Her husband, Brent, is a special education teacher. They enjoy working out together, outdoor activities, and traveling as well as sitting on the couch and watching a good series on Netflix. Their current furry and feathered family includes Kipper, a terrier mix, Speck, a Shih-tzu/Maltese mix, Squiggy, an orange tabby cat, Bird!, a parakeet, and they also have a fish tank. The dogs, cat, and bird were all rescues from various situations.
Dr. Arington believes in the importance of preventative medicine to keep your pets as healthy as possible. But, when they do have problems, she also enjoys internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and has an interest in abdominal ultrasound. She also enjoys seeing a variety of different species, exotic and pocket pets are welcome! She was certified for Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy (aka animal chiropractic) in 2007. This modality can help pets with a variety of problems be more comfortable and increase their overall wellness. She thinks it is important to make personal connections with her clients and patients and likes working at an animal hospital that has a family type environment.
